How 777 Styles is the Perfect Formula for Your Capsule Wardrobe

A Spiritual Girl in a Material World

Growing up, we were conditioned to desire a new outfit for birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. It continues to be an essential element in our life. We can’t deny being happy every time we buy a new outfit, but it’s only momentarily. The outfit makes us feel good for a short while. However, it is typically a one-time-only purchase and will never be worn again.

I used to believe having essentials meant lacking style, now my mind has shifted to having more essentials and less “One of a Kind” pieces. I learned with “One of a Kind” pieces that the Cost Per Wear (CPW) is often high, and I don’t want to wear the item again because it is so unique. This leads to the pieces sitting in my closet collecting dust.

I repeat the vicious cycle each time there is a new occasion, and I purchase a “One of a Kind” piece that will never be worn again. This leads to anxiety and frustration during preparation for any occasion. The root cause is due to not having essentials in my closet. Now, I am left with a very costly wardrobe with items that are rarely enjoyed. However, there is a solution that we can turn to minimalist capsule wardrobes.

What are the key elements in this 777 styles blog?

The Minimalist Capsule Wardrobe: Intentional Choices that Build a Versatile Collection

Why are we conditioned to believe that we can’t repeat pieces? Social media has conditioned us to believe that we should not repeat items because the pieces are seen by so many people.

Recently, the trend of having a minimalist capsule wardrobe has taken over YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest, and TikTok. According to Gone Minimal, “A minimalist capsule wardrobe contains the essential clothing pieces and nothing in excess.” Here are the top five benefits of having a minimalist capsule wardrobe:

  1. Lowers the Cost-Per-Wear (CPW)
  2. Increases visibility of the pieces we have in our closet
  3. Reduces impulse buying, shifting to intentional buying
  4. Improves the quality of the pieces we purchase
  5. Diversifies with mixing and matching pieces

Remarkably, some people have shifted to having 10-20 pieces in their wardrobes. How can we take the concept of the minimalist capsule wardrobe but not focus on the number of pieces in our wardrobe? Instead, can we shift the focus to intentional buying for each piece, knowing how it will serve our greatest good over time?

After thinking about the concept of having a minimalist capsule wardrobe, I started to think about what is most important. What are the key inputs when deciding which item we should buy? Here are three questions that stuck out to me:

  1. Quantity: Can I wear the piece for seven days (the whole week, including work)?
  2. Flexibility: Can I pair it with pieces in my existing wardrobe?
  3. Adaptability: Can I wear the piece to different occasions (work, dinner, brunch, etc.)?

Once I answered the questions above, 777 Styles were born; the concept is that before purchasing one piece, you can outline the seven days, seven looks, and seven different occasions that it can be styled. The goal is to maximize the Wears Per Piece (WPP) while minimizing your CPW. Let’s look at one of the most essential pieces for any woman’s—even man’s—wardrobe: the blazer.

The Essential One-Piece for Everyone’s Wardrobe – The Blazer

A blazer is a classic wardrobe piece worn for different occasions. The price can range anywhere from $30 to $5,000 or more. The price usually dictates the quality and whether it is from a luxury brand. No matter the cost or quality of your item, the blazer elevates any essential item in your closet.

Interestingly enough, the blazer’s original purpose was only for the workplace, where men wore it to the office to exude authority and professionalism. It has since shifted into a unisex piece people of all genders wear. It is so flexible, that it can be paired with pieces, such as joggers, denim shorts, jeans, or leggings. Since the blazer can be worn with many different pieces, this indicates a lower CPW.

In this blog, we will feature a white blazer from All Saints. This modern, lightweight, linen-rich blazer is cut in a double-breasted fit with contrasting buttons. The original price is $445; however, it is no longer available at All Saints.

Currently, you can find it at Nordstrom for $435, Bloomingdales for $178, or  ModeSens (RueLaLa) for $159. While we will be featuring the white linen blazer, it also comes in black and khaki. The blazer is oversized with a boxy, structured look and feel.

Most of the negative reviews say that the blazer arrived wrinkled. However, since it is only 45% linen, I wouldn’t expect it to arrive in any other condition. After purchasing my blazer from the All Saints store in Austin, TX, I took it to the cleaners to be pressed. I would personally give the blazer 4-stars.

You can try to recreate these looks with any blazer in your closet. You do not need to purchase this exact blazer to create the outfits, as your wardrobe should reflect your sense of style. If you don’t have a blazer and the All Saints blazer is not your vibe, here are some alternatives below:

  1. Target – $38
  2. Banana Republic – $80
  3. Rebecca Minkoff via Nordstrom – $348
  4. Elie Tahari via Saks Fifth Avenue – $375
  5. The Row via Net a Porter – $2,148

Now that you have a few ideas of where you can grab a new blazer for your wardrobe, let’s explore 777 Styles, a truly revolutionary way of transforming your mindset when purchasing pieces for your wardrobe.

The Perfect Style Formula: 1 Piece = 7 Days + 7 Outfits + 7 Occasions

Now, as we discuss the 777 Styles, it’s best to choose the seven occasions that you attend most frequently and align with your lifestyle the best. The purpose is to optimize your wardrobe and gain the best ROI by maximizing your WPP and minimizing your CPW.

1. Look 1 | Sunday | Brunch

2. Look 2 | Monday | Office

3. Look 3 | Tuesday | Dinner

4. Look 4 | Wednesday | Breakfast

5. Look 5 | Thursday | Date NighT

6. Look 6 | Friday | Bearthday Party

7. Look 7 | Saturday | Farmers Market

How will you embrace 777 Styles in your lifestyle?

Now let’s evaluate the CPW for the All Saints blazer. I paid $178 for the blazer and after wearing it for seven days this equates to $25/Wear for the week. This is a higher ROI in comparison to wearing the piece once. And I could mix and match existing and new pieces in my wardrobe with the blazer.

An element to consider is that sometimes, pieces may be more expensive; in return, their quality will help increase their longevity. Find a healthy balance as well as what works for your lifestyle. Sometimes, when you pay for the piece multiple times, it can possibly cost you more in the long term. For instance, you could pay $50 for a piece and only wear it twice. If you wear that piece often, you could spend over $300 over time with lower-price replacements. Think about spending $300 one time as an investment on a higher-quality piece that doesn’t need to be replaced as often.

Thank you for taking the time to read this blog. We hope you connected with 777 Styles and have one piece that can be styled across seven days, seven looks, and seven different occasions. Remember to choose seven occasions that you attend most frequently and align with your lifestyle the best. Our goal is to help you maximize your ROI by eliminating impulsive buys, increasing your WPP, and decreasing your CPW over time.
